Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)

We focus on civil infrastructure projects across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, ELI also operates offices in North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, and across Tennessee.

As we continue to expand, we are now seeking a responsible, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Professional Land Surveyor capable of working independently and primarily working on projects in Indiana. The ideal candidate will be motivated with a desire to collaborate and grow our Indiana survey operations. Must be capable of performing field and office survey tasks. Travel to projects within a 2-hour radius can be expected and if overnight stays are required, a per-diem will be provided. Extended travel is not expected as a regular part of this role.

This role will involve a wide range of land surveying tasks including boundary surveys, route surveys, pipeline surveys, electric transmission surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, as-built surveys, and aerial surveying. The Professional Land Surveyor is an integral part of the project team, that will communicate with senior leadership within the company, and communicates directly with clients. Essential tasks with this position include the following:

• Assist with group management, growth and profitability
• Day to day coordination with design staff survey needs
• Workload projections and crew scheduling
• Resource and equipment evaluation
• Mentoring, leadership, and guidance of technical team
• Policy and procedure evaluation and recommendations
• Survey deliverable production staff support
• QA/QC of survey deliverables
• Field survey support
• Data processing
• Client engagement and proposal support
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

This position reports to the Midwest Survey Manager and supports the overall management, coordination, and professional oversight of the department. The Professional Land Surveyor should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while also excelling in a collaborative team setting.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• 2 or 4-year degree in surveying, engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• Professional Surveyor licensure in Indiana
• Driven to become licensed in additional states
• Experience using Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, PLS CADD (preferred but not required)
• Experience with Trimble GNSS, 3D Terrestrial Scanning, UAS Part 107 (preferred but not required)
• 5+ years relevant progressive experience in survey project management
• Excellent communication skills
• Valid driver's license
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD Cicil 3D or MicroStation
